Doctors Without Borders
Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders
Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is a global humanitarian organization that provides medical care to the people who need it most in over 70 countries. MSF teams are responding to COVID-19 on multiple fronts—caring for patients, offering health education and mental health support, and providing training for vital infection control measures in health facilities around the world. MSF has sent medical protective equipment to China and Hong Kong, where teams are also reaching out to at-risk groups. MSF is supporting three hospitals at the epicenter of the outbreak in Italy with patient care and infection control and are supporting healthcare workers assisting people under isolation at home and in an elderly nursing home where cases have been detected. Teams are preparing to assist vulnerable communities in France and Belgium and have offered support for the outbreak response in Iran. MSF is working with local authorities in many other countries to prepare for the impact of COVID-19 on weak and fragile health systems.
